Adrian Trujillo is a descendant of noted Acoma potter Sarah Garcia.  He is known for his large, coil-built pottery.  This exceptional jar is coil built and painted with bee-weed (black) and red clay slip. there are large heartline deer on either side.  They are surrounded by fine-line and checkerboard rain designs.  As the jar is turned, there are op-art butterflies near the neck, and base, along with a fine-line star medallion at the shoulder.  It is an intricately painted jar that brings together many different styles of Acoma pottery.  The base is slipped red and indented, in the traditional Acoma manner.  It is signed on the bottom, “Adrian Trujillo”.
