Tso, Jared – “First Ray” Red Triple Shoulder Jar with Fire Clouds

7.5"w x 12"h

$ 3,800.00

Jared Tso is one of the rising stars of Native pottery.  He is a grandson of potter Faye Tso and his pottery is exceptionally refined in technique and traditional in style.  Each piece is coil-built from traditional native Navajo clay and traditionally fired.  This tall jar has an oval shape and three sharp shoulder.  These shoulders are a signature of Jared’s pottery and technically difficult to create with such a sharp and symmetric edge.  Additionally, there are two sharp points that are coiled out on the neck meant to look like the first rays of sun light. The jar was traditionally fired to create this dynamic coloration on the surface of the piece.  Jared said he tried some new variations on the wood for the firing and this was the result.  Simply exceptional!   After the firing, the jar was covered in pinon pitch.  The jar is signed, “Jared Tso”.
