Jared Tso is one of the rising stars of Native pottery. He is a grandson of potter Faye Tso and his pottery is exceptionally refined in technique and traditional in style. Each piece is coil-built from traditional native Navajo clay and traditionally fired. This is a spectacular tall jar in a classic Navajo water jar shape. The sides are nearly straight with a slight indention at the neck. There are four raised bands that create the rain design on one side of the jar. The remainder of the jar is polished at an angle. It was traditionally fired outdoor to create the spectacular coloration! The firing and coloration is simply amazing, and as the jar is turned, the colors change and flow. It does feel like the winds, dust, and rain of an Arizona monsoon! The mottled colorations are from the wood and firing. The exciting part of outdoor firings is that while the process can be repeated, the result cannot, so you never know how a piece will look until is fired! The jar was then covered in pinon pitch. The jar is signed, “Jared Tso”. There is a Judge’s Choice (Ken Williams) Ribbon from the 2025 Heard Indian Market.
