Tso, Jared – “Rain” 21″ Tall Large Traditional Navajo Jar

14"w x 20.5"h

$ 6,500.00

This is a large coil-built jar that is one of four he has created that are the largest of his career to this point. This jar is a classic storage jar shape with a low shoulder and straight sides.  The jar was stone polished at an angle.  There is a single matte band extending downward with tightly incised lines.  The jar was traditionally fired to create the coloration on the surface. The angle of the polish along with the dynamic coloration of the firing is spectacular on this large jar.  After the firing, the jar was covered in pinon pitch, in a traditional manner.  This piece tall, thin walled, and visually striking in person. The last photos are ones of Jared with all four of these important pieces together.  I thought it created a sense of scale and size and it was Jared’s first time to have them all together at the same time! The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Jared Tso”.
