Tso, Jared – “Snowstorm” 23″ Tall Large Traditional Navajo Jar

14"w x 23"h

$ 7,000.00

This is a large coil-built jar that is one of four he has created that are the largest of his career to this point. This jar is the largest of the four pieces with a sharp upper shoulder and a short neck.  The neck has two rows of tightly incised designs that encircle the piece in a traditional manner.  The jar is polished at an angle swirling down from the neck to the base.  It was traditionally fired and has a white area that gradates in color to dark brown and black.  Spectacular!  After the firing, the jar was covered in pinon pitch, in a traditional manner.  The style of the jar is classic Navajo Tus (a water or storage jar).  The scale of this piece, at over 23″ tall, is massive and striking in person. The last photos are ones of Jared with all four of these important pieces together.  I thought it created a sense of scale and size and it was Jared’s first time to have them all together at the same time! The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Jared Tso”.
