Victorino, Sandra – Jar with Birds and Fine-Line Geometrics
Sandra Victorino is a niece of noted potter Dorothy Torivio. Sandra has her own unique style of “op-art”, where the patterns start small, then get larger and then smaller again on the vessel. This jar is a classic water jar shape. There is a striking combination of traditional and modernist designs on the piece. There is a swirling section with Acoma birds and another with geometric patterns. The large section of very intricate fine-line diamond-shaped patterns. The combination of of designs gives the jar an elegant blend of modernism and history. The jar is signed on the bottom.
