Vigil, Robert – 11″ Tall Black Micaceous Storage Jar

9"w x 11"h

$ 775.00

Robert Vigil learned to make pottery from Lonnie Vigil and Virginia Gutierrez.  Each piece is coil-made with micaceous clay and micaceous clay slipped.  It is a large piece of his pottery with a high shoulder and elongated neck.  It is not only thin-walled and light weight, but has an elegant symmetry of form.  The jar was traditionally fired to create the black coloration. The firing created colorations with the mica that are more pronounced and dynamic in some areas  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Robert Vigil, Nambe”.
