Tim Vigil is a son of noted potter Minnie Vigil.  In the 1980s he created some polychrome pottery, as did his sisters Bernadette and Annette.  This bowl is round and fully polished white.  It is painted with a series of very complex cloud patterns.  There are red, brown, black, and green clay colors used on this piece.  Including the polished white clay, there are five different clay colors, making this a true polychrome (i.e. more than 3 colors).  The bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom, “Sunbird”, which is his name in Tewa.  Tim’s aunts are potters Gloria Garcia (Goldenrod), Lois Guiterrez, and Thelma Talachy.  His grandmother was Petra Gutierrez and his great-grandmother was Pasqualita Gutierrez.
