Michelle Williams is a daughter of noted Navajo potter Alice Cling. This long neck jar is coil-built and stone-polished red. The jar has a narrow base, high shoulder, and elongated neck. The jar was traditionally fired to create the colorations on the surface that range from red to black. The piece was covered in pinon-pitch after the firing, a continuation of the traditional Navajo pottery when pine pitch was used to make the pottery waterproof. The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Michelle Williams”.
