Alvina Yepa (b. 1954) learned to make pottery from her mother, Felipita Nonche Yepa. She began making pottery in the 1980s and, in 1987, won First Place and Best of Division for her pottery at Santa Fe Indian Market. This jar has a round shoulder and a short neck. There are two melon ribs carved on each side. They surround two stalks of corn that are etched into the clay. The entire piece is fully stone-polished. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Alvina Yepa”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
