Alvina Yepa (b. 1954) learned to make pottery from her mother, Felipita Nonche Yepa. She began making pottery in the 1980’s and, in 1987, won First Place and Best of Division for her pottery at Santa Fe Indian Market. This melon jar has 34 rib carved into the clay. The swirl at the shoulder and extends to the base. The neck of the jar is asymmetric. The entire piece is fully stone-polished. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Alvina Yepa”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
