Yepa, Marcella – Red Jar with Painted Cloud Designs

Marcella Yepa (b. 1964) is known for her carved and polished pottery.  She is a cousin of Emma Yepa and learned to make pottery from her aunt, Alvina Yepa. This jar is coil-built, carved, stone polished, and painted.  The rim of the jar is fluted and the neck and base are polished red.  There is a carved band around the shoulder that is matte.  It is painted with a cloud design.  It is signed on the bottom, “Marcella Yepa”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
