Earlene  Youngbird-Tafoya is known for her polychrome painted pottery.  This bowl is fully polished red and has an avanyu painted onto the surface around the neck.  Around the center is a feather pattern.  Below is a cloud and rain design.  She has used both cream and tan colored clay slips. The contrast of the matte against the deep red coloration is striking.  It is signed, “Earlene Youngbird”.
