$ 4,200.00

Sergio Lugo is the middle son of noted potter Nancy Youngblood and a brother to Joseph Lugo and Christopher Youngblood.  He learned to make pottery from his mother.  Each piece is coil-built, carved or painted, stone polished, and traditionally fired. This large bowl is entitled, “Dancing in the Twilight”.  Sergio said this was the largest piece he has made so far.  The jar is deeply carved with four skeletons.  Sergio said that after he designed and carved them they looked like they were dancing together. Check out the detail in the arms and the hands, and even the teeth are carved!  Extending down from the neck and up from the shoulder are carved triangular clouds.  The base has large mountain designs.  The piece is painted with clay slips and micaceous clay before it is fired.  The jar is exceptional in the design and size of the piece and that it survived a traditional firing!  It is a creative use of design and form.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Sergio Lugo”.
