Youngblood-Lugo, Sergio – Red Bowl with Carved Avanyu
Sergio is the middle son of noted potter Nancy Youngblood and a brother to Christopher Youngblood. He learned to make pottery from his mother. Each piece is coil built, carved, stone polished, and native fired. This bowl has the classic avanyu (water serpent) as the design. The carving is deep and tightly designed. Note the angles and swirls on the body of the avanyu. It is highly polished and fired a red coloration. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Sergio Y.” It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
