Nolan Youvella is a son of noted potters Iris Nampeyo and Wallace Youvella.  He is known for his relief carved pottery.  This jar is fully polished.  It is etched on one side with a flute player and geometric cloud, wind and rain designs.  The rim of the jar has a kiva step or lightning edge.  The jar was traditionally fired so there are light blushes on the surface.  The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Nolan Youvella Nampeyo”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
