Youvella, Nolan – Jar with Sun Face Design
Nolan Youvella is a son of noted potters Iris Nampeyo and Wallace Youvella. He is known for his relief carved and incised pottery. This taller jar is fully polished. It is etched on one side with a Tewa sunface. It is surrounded by clouds, feather, and rain designs. The remainder of the jar is fully polished in a vertical manner. The jar was traditionally fired so there are light blushes on the surface. The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Nolan Youvella Nampeyo”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
