5"w x 2.5"h

$ 850.00

This large seedpot by Camilio Tafoya is from 1977. t is fully polished and fully designed. It is a very complex pattern. On the top, there are six hummingbirds etched into the clay.  They are each next to a flower.  There is a central medallion on the very top with a swirling cloud design.  Note as well the large bird wing feather design!  There are 36 feathers etched into the clay.  On the side, there is a large flower.  Camilio first began making larger carved pottery like his sister, Margaret Tafoya.  In the 1970s he began making pieces on his own when he was living with his daughter Grace Medicine Flower.  All of the etching on his pieces was done before they were fired so that he was able to get the smooth tan coloration in the background.  The piece is signed on the bottom “Camilio Sunflower Tafoya”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
