Martha Appleleaf learned to make pottery from her mother, Carmelita Vigil Dunlap. Today she continues to create distinctive pottery with traditional designs. This is a large coil-built wedding vase. The piece has a round body and elongated spouts. It is painted with an avanyu encircling the body of the vase. The spouts have cloud designs. The piece was traditionally fired to a glassy black. The jar is signed on the bottom, “Marth Appleleaf”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
