Nellie Nampeyo Douma was the second daughter of Nampeyo of Hano and a sister of Fannie Nampeyo and Annie Nampeyo. This large bowl is coil-built and painted with bee-weed for the black and red clay slip. It has a classic round shape. The bowl is painted with a stylized migration pattern. There are seven small bird wings around the neck and seven larger ones below the shoulder. The bowl was traditionally fired so there are strong blushes on the surface. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. It is signed, “Nellie Nampeyo”. Definitely a great piece of Nampeyo Family history in clay!
