Jennifer Tafoya is known for her intricately etched pottery.  Each piece is coil-built, stone polished, and traditionally fired. The designs are etched into the clay, and additional clay colors are added.  This jar is square in shape, has an elongated neck.  On the bottom of the piece is an avanyu and flowers.  On the top are three Red Tail Foxes.  Each fox is just a bit different, yet they are realistic in design.  She has etched all the fur and check out the eyes!  Each fox is surrounded by traditional Santa Clara designs.  The jar shape, size, and designs work together perfectly on this piece.  All the various colors are derived from natural clay slips.  The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Jennifer Tafoya”.  Jennifer continues to be one of the leading innovative potters working today!
