Debra Duwyenie is well known for her wonderful miniatures and incised designs. Each piece is stone polished, and then it is etched before it is fired! This seedpot has a feather design around the rim. Below is a sun with flute players, quail, hummingbirds, butterflies, and a raincloud.  Below the animals is an avanyu. There are eight turtles, each with a different design on the back. There is one with “wavy” lines representing Preston Duwyenie and his shifting sand pottery.  They turtles are surrounded by numerous fish. For the size, the piece is exceptionally detailed with design! The jar has  silver lid that was made by Preston Duwyenie.  It is cast from cuttlefish bone and then cut into the shape of a rabbit.  It has the same “shifting sand” style pattern as the back of the one turtle. The bottom of the lid is stamped with Preston’s hallmark, and the seedpot is signed with both their names.
