7.5"w x 3"h

$ 1,800.00

This is a complex bowl by Rainy Naha.  She learned to make pottery from her mother, Helen “Featherwoman” Naha.  Rainy continues is a similar style using a white clay slip as the foundation for her work.  This piece is a classic shape with a wide shoulder and nearly flat top!  The bowl is slipped with white clay and then painted with natural clay slips and bee-weed (black).  The design on the jar is a Solstice design depicting the phases of the moon.  There are four solstice panels with the four phases of the moon. Separating each of the sections are bands of traditional Hopi-Tewa designs including star, feather, cloud, and four direction designs.  The rim of the bowl is painted with a VERY tight checkerboard pattern.  Overall, there are seven different colors used on this jar!  The bowl was traditionally fired to create the blushes on the surface.  It is signed on the bottom with her name and feather hallmark.
