Ricardo Ortiz and his wife, Victoria, create traditional San Felipe pottery.  Ricardo is a son of Frank Ortiz and Vanencia Montaño Ortiz and grandson of Lorenzo and Candelaria Montaño.  Victoria makes the pottery and Ricardo paints the designs.  This is classic corn meal box.  The piece has flat sides and a rectangular shape.  On the ends there are kiva steps.  The ends are painted with rain clouds. The sides have rain and cloud designs.  The inside long walls of the box have cloud designs.  The red areas are stone polished.  The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Ricardo and Victoria Ortiz”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
