Williams, Lorraine – Seedpot with Sun Design (1990s)

5"w x 3"h

$ 200.00

This is a classic seedpot by Lorraine Williams. The piece is coil-built, incised, and traditionally fired.  The seedpot has a shart shoulder and sloping side. The top has an incised sun design.  The edge of the seedpot has incised feathers.  The designs are painted red and black to accentuate the patterns and then traditionally fired to create the surface coloration.  After the piece is fired, it is covered in pinon-pitch.  The pitch is a reminder of the historic Navajo pottery when it was utilitarian.  The bowl is signed on the bottom in the clay, “LW, Lorraine Williams”.  Lorraine has won numerous awards for her pottery and has been featured in books such as “A Legacy of Generations”.
