Analla, Calvin – Bowl with Deer Track Designs

5"w x 3.75"h

$ 600.00

Calvin Analla learned to make pottery from his sister, Yvonne Lucas, and her husband, Steve Lucas.  This bowl is made by mixing two different types of clay together.  That creates the mottled appearance of the clay.  The bowl is thin-walled and painted with bee-weed.  Calvin said of the designs:  “The bowl is a prayer for a prosperous deer hunt. The line work at the top and bottom represents rain, which also represents prosperity. The designs in the middle are prayer birds with the deer hooves at the end.”  The bowl was traditionally fired.  It is signed, “C. Analla, Jr.”.
