Calvin Analla learned to make pottery from his sister, Yvonne Lucas, and her husband, Steve Lucas.  This jar is thin-walled and inspired by classic Laguna pottery designs. The neck of the jar has thinly painted cloud and rain designs.  Around the shoulder area larger mountains, lightning, and rain patterns.  The thin lines, tight swirls, and use of coloration give this jar a dynamic appearance.  The is painted with bee-weed (black) and red clay slip.  The shape, design, and thin walls all work perfectly on this jar.  It is signed on the bottom, “C. Analla”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
