Calvin Analla learned to make pottery from his sister, Yvonne Lucas, and her husband, Steve Lucas. This jar is made by mixing two different types of clay together. That creates the mottled appearance of the clay. It is thin-walled and painted with bee-weed for the black. The jar has eight “spring flowers” painted on the top of the piece. They are tightly painted and are meant to have the appearance of blooming flowers. Note the use of the thin lines! The bowl was traditionally fired. It is signed, “C. Analla, Jr.”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
