Frederica Antonio calls this shape of a bowl with the inward-turned rim an “Infinity Rim”.  The bowl is coil built and she coils the rim down into the bowl. The result is a striking appearance with the feel of the designs flowing into the piece.  She uses a series of fine vertical and horizontal lines which are then filled in to create larger images in the squares. The designs on this bowl are vertical corn plant designs.  The rim of the bowl is a flower motif with the triangular patterns.  Note how when she painted into the rim the designs are amazingly tight and fit the curvature!  The black and white coloration gives the bowl a very modernist appearance. The base of the jar is concave, reminiscent of historic Acoma jars which were carried on the head.  This combination of thin walls, classic shape, and tightly painted design create a piece which is visually stunning!  The jar is signed on the bottom.
