Frederica Antonio is renowned for her intricately painted pottery. Each piece is coil-built and then finely painted. Her designs are a series of fine vertical and horizontal lines, which are then filled in to create larger images in the squares.  Note how the squares are smaller than normal, they are what she calls her “micro mini squares”. The neck of the jar has a lightning pattern.  The jar has a cloud design on one side. The opposite side has a “distorted cloud” pattern.  Each of the designs is just a bit disconnected to create the distortion.  With the TINY squares on a small jar, it is outstanding!  The base of the jar is concave, reminiscent of historic Acoma jars that were carried on the head.  The jar is signed on the bottom, “F. V. Antonio”.
