John Aragon is known for his use of Mimbres imagery on his pottery. This is one of his open bowls. Inside the bowl, it is fully painted with 42 Mimbres insects (and maybe a bird or two). Each one is different and they are very complex in style and design. It is not just the insets, but how he paints them to create a cohesive overall design. The bowl was made in 1990. Today, John makes very little pottery, but his pieces have their distinctive style. The piece is signed on the bottom, “John F. Aragon”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
