Blue Corn was one of the great innovative San Ildefonso potters of the late 1900s. This bowl is coil-built and polished white. There are 32 feathers painted around the shoulder of the piece. The ends of each feather are painted with a taupe colored clay. Below the shoulder are lines of black, green, and yellow clay. The base is slipped with a cmiceious green clay. It is distinctive and colorful. The opening is square in shape, which is unusual. The bowl is signed on the bottom, “Blue Corn”. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
