This is a classic polychrome water jar by Blue Corn.  She is often best known for her polychrome pottery and her creative use of various clay slips on her pottery. She learned to make pottery from Maria Martinez at San Ildefonso.  This tall jar has a sharp shoulder and an elongated neck.  The jar is fully polished whitish-cream in coloration.  Around the neck it is painted with 16 feathers.  The tips of the feathers have a green clay painted to accentuate the design. Around the neck is a rain design. It was traditionally fired.  The jar is signed on the bottom “Blue Corn, San Ildefonso”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
