This is an oil painting on canvas by Mary Calengor.  It is entitled, “Nature’s Work”.  It is a detailed painting.  Mary says that she only paints around 20 pieces a year.  She spends time on each painting, focusing on the detail and the light.  We are pleased to have Mary’s paintings in both our Santa Fe and Scottsdale locations.

She says of this piece:

It is Springtime in Minnesota and from the window of my home office I have watched Mother Nature at work, piece by piece, twig by twig, construct this nest atop a light fixture on the front of my studio.  It is miraculous to observe the effort by many to achieve this architectural feat and how quickly the nest can grow.  Unfortunately, as in nature, a black crow discovered this little treasure and ate some of the eggs.  I found one egg still intact under a bush in my yard and if you look closely you will see a hint of robin’s egg blue in the painting.
