This is a charming mini water jar by Marie Z. Chino. Marie is famous as one of the revivalists at Acoma Pueblo, along with Lucy M. Lewis, Jessie Garcia, and a few others. This jar is round in shape and has a fluted rim. It is thin-walled and painted with bee-weed (black) and red clay. The jar has painted birds, clouds, rain, and lightning designs. The jar was traditionally fired so there are some very slight color variations to the white. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. It is signed on the bottom, “M. Z. Chino”. The piece also has a great piece of ephemera, one of Marie’s business cards!
