This tall water jar by Alice Cling has a round shoulder and an elongated neck. The jar is fully polished and has an elegant shape. It was traditionally fired to create variations in color.  The colors range from deep red to black.  The piece was covered in pinon-pitch after the firing, a continuation of the traditional Navajo pottery when pinon-pitch was used to make the pottery waterproof. Alice has won numerous awards for her pottery and has been featured in books such as “Legacy of Generations.”  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay.
