Cling, Alice – Bowl with Four Tan Polished Panels

4"w x 4"h

$ 175.00

This bowl by Alice Cling is one of her classic shapes.  Alice Cling is one of the great names in the revival of Navajo pottery in the 1980s. This bowl is coil-built and stone polished. The are four panels of polished tan while the rest is polished red.  The jar was traditionally fired outdoors and has strong colorations from black to brown on the surface.  The jar was covered in pinon-pitch after the firing, a continuation of the traditional Navajo pottery when the pitch was used to make the pottery utilitarian.  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Alice Cling”.  Alice has won numerous awards for her pottery and has been featured in books such as “Legacy of Generations.”
