Cling, Alice – Jar with Green Swirl
This long neck jar by Alice Cling has a green clay swirl which extends up the neck of the piece. While the jar is slipped with red clay, Alice then uses a green clay to add an additional dimension to the neck. The piece is traditionally fired and ranges in color from deep red to black. The piece was covered in pine-pitch after the firing, a continuation of the traditional Navajo pottery when pine or pinon pitch was used to make the pottery waterproof. Alice has won numerous awards for her pottery and been featured in books such as “Legacy of Generations.” It is signed on the bottom in the clay.
