Cling, Alice – Sharp Shoulder Long Neck Jar (1975)

6.5"w x 7"h

$ 275.00

This may be one of the earliest pieces we have had by Alice Cling.  The jar is coil-built with a sharp shoulder and an elongated neck.  It is fully polished but fired a dark brown coloration.  It is similar to more traditional Navajop pottery from the 1970s.  The jar was traditionally fired and covered in pinon-pitch after the firing, a continuation of the traditional Navajo pottery when the pitch was used to make the pottery waterproof.  It is signed, “Alice Cling” and dated 1975.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
