Frey, Jeremy – Black and White and Yellow Urchin Basket

$ 1,600.00

This is an intricately woven basket by Jeremy Frey.  The basket is made from black ash and Sweetgrass.  Jeremy said that when he first began to innovate and evolve his basket making, his first focus was on artistry.  This basket has yellow dyed points over the black bands. Urchin baskets are named after the sea urchin commonly found on the shores of Maine. This design dates back to the early years of fancy basket weaving. The handle on the lid is intricately woven with his signature checkerboard pattern.  Jeremy said that he began weaving more complex designs on his lid handles after working with some weavers in Hawaii.  It is signed on the bottom.
