This is a classic carved bowl by Effie Garcia.  It is her famous shape with a narrow base and wide shoulder.  The bowl is deeply carved with a thunderbird on each side. They are separated by a deeply carved band of rain design.  Note the depth of the carving and how she has outlined the design with the clay for emphasis.  The surface is stone polished and the piece is traditionally fired to a deep black coloration.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Effie Garcia”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
