Garcia, Lena – Santa Ana Jar with Cloud and Rain Designs (1973)

5.5"w x 5"h

$ 600.00

Lena Garcia learned to make pottery from Eudora Montoya.  This jar is from 1973 and it has a classic shape of Santa Ana pottery.  The designs are painted with natural clay slips and it has been traditionally fired.  The firing has given the white areas a slight blush.  The designs are clouds and rain patterns.  It is not often that we see many Santa Ana pots, so it is always exciting to see pieces from this revival period. Today, there are virtually no potters from Santa Ana working in the traditional style.  This jar is signed, “L. Garcia”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
