5.5"w x 4"h

$ 650.00

Rose Gonzales is often considered the first at San Ildefonso Pueblo to make carved pottery. However, over the course of her career, she created a variety of styles, including plainware and painted and carved pottery.  This jar is one of her classic shapes and designs.  It has a sharp shoulder, and it is carved in her “cameo style”.  The design is a series of rain, cloud, and lightning patterns.  The piece was traditionally fired a deep red coloration.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Rose”.  It is in excellent condition with no crack, restoration or repair.
