Gonzales, Tse-Pe – Black and Sienna Jar with Incised Avanyu, Sun, and Turquoise (1990s)

Tse-Pe Gonzales was a son of noted potter Rose Gonzales. This jar is from the late 1990s. It is made from micaceous clay and the jar is coil-built. There is an incised avanyu around the center of the piece. It has a turqoise hei-shi bead for the eye and there is a pink clay slip below the eye. Above the avanyu is a sun designs that is two-toned sienna. Below the avanyu is a piece of turquoise in a silver bezel. The jar is signed on the bottom with Tse-Pe’s hallmark, “TP”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
