Gonzales, Tse-Pe – Jar with Bear and Verasite (1997)

Tse-Pe Gonzales was a son of noted potter Rose Gonzales.  This jar is from 1997.  The jar is coil-built with a round shoulder and an elongated neck. The jar has a polished medallion on the front with an incised heartline bear.  There is a piece of verasite offset by the bear.  The remainder of the jar is slipped with mica and rag polished to a high sheen.  The jar is signed on the bottom with Tse-Pe’s hallmark, “TP”. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
