$ 200.00

Margaret Lou Gutierrez was a daughter of noted potters Tonita & Juan Roybal.  She began making pottery in the 1970s and this is one of her pieces from the 1980s. This is a small water jar with a low shoulder and elongated neck. The entire piece is fully polished.  It is painted “black-on-black” with 24 feathers. Each feather is thin and very sharp.  Her style of painting is easily identifiable.  The jar was fired to a glassy, near gunmetal coloration.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Margaret Lou Gutierrez”.
