This is a large and classic bowl by Grace Medicine Flower and her father, Camilio “Sunflower” Tafoya. When Grace began making pottery in the 1960s, she would often work in collaboration with her father. Camilio would make the piece and Grace would carve and polish the designs. This bowl has a wide shape and 33 carved feathers encircling the piece. It is fully polished and fired a deep black coloration. The piece is signed on the bottom, “Grace Medicine Flower + Camilio Tafoya”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
