5.25"w x 3"h

$ 800.00

This is a collaborative piece by Grace Medicine Flower and her father, Camilio Tafoya.  It is from the early 1970s, and it was fired “black and red.”  It is a distinctive firing technique where areas the piece (here, the top half) was covered before the manure is put on to turn it black.  The bowl was made by Camilio and polished by Grace. She would then etch the designs into the clay before it was fired.  This piece has two holes on the top.  Going in the opposite direction are three medallions, each with an avanyu in red.  They are surrounded by an Avanyu that is etched into the clay circling the top of the shoulder on the bowl.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Grace Medicne Flower and Camilio Tafoya”.   It is in excellent with no chips,cracks, restoration or repair.
