Naranjo, Johnathan – 8″ Tall “Three Woodpeckers” Jar (2025)

6"w x 8"h

$ 1,700.00

This is a creative new asymmetric rim jar by Johnathan Naranjo.  The jar has a round body and an elongated neck.  The entire piece is fully polished.  Johnathan said he wanted to create a piece that was more detailed. There are two woodpeckers in flight. The third woodpecker is on a branch.  There is exceptional detail in the wings and feathers of each bird.  Note, there are even feathers floating to the ground!  The bird on the tree, note the detail in the bark and leaves.  It is not just the exceptional detail etched into the clay, but the interaction of the woodpeckers and their surroundings.   That is the strength of this piece!   The light red matte areas are where Johnathan has only lightly etched into the surface of the jar.  This is a difficult technique to master but one that has become a trademark of Johanthan’s intricate and realistic style.  Johnathan pays great attention to the details in his pottery.  It’s these little details that certainly make his work so distinctive and exciting!  It is signed on the bottom, “Johnathan Naranjo 2025”.
