This is a creative wide bowl by Johnathan Naranjo.  The jar has a flat top and the entire surface is fully polished. The bowl has three realistic coyotes as the design. They are etched into the top of the bowl. The opposite side has a single groundhog looking up from the ground.  They are surrounded by plant designs.  In the background is a rug pattern that is lightly etched into the clay. The bowl was traditionally fired a dark brown coloration.  The light red matte areas are where Johnathan has only lightly etched into the surface of the jar.  This is a difficult technique to master but one that has become a trademark of Johanthan’s intricate and realistic style.  Johnathan pays great attention to the details in his pottery.  It’s these little details that certainly make his work so distinctive and exciting!  It is signed on the bottom, “Johnathan Naranjo 2024”.  There is a second place ribbon from the 2024 Santa Fe Indian Market.
